THE PROBLEM: THE COVID SITUATION FOR STUDENTS
COVID situation has altered the course of a student’s “Life Experience” for the worse!
Fear, uncertainty, insecurity, lack of interaction, lack of meaning in life, self-doubt, having no purpose, low self-esteem … the list goes on.
The Computer/Laptop is the “only” Portal to the world of experience now, with hardly any human-to-human interaction. The virtual world has a lot of information ( and misinformation ) to access, but it is isolating. Altus School changes that. You can rise higher than who you are through other peoples lives.

Understand that the times have changed. There are boundaries everywhere. The mind and the heart cannot accept the circumstances. The “rules” of the equation has changed. If you change the right side, the left side changes automatically.

we got interested in "things" - instead of people! YES, we did!
As we grow up, we leave attachments and gain new ones. It’s part of growing up. Parents became busy; the stories made no meaning anymore. We started to gain new friends, new teachers, new stories, new everything. Studies, grades, SAT/ACT, student debt, soccer became the focus. What we lost was OURSELVES!
The “I” inside us…became smaller! We forgot to reflect on ourselves and the world inside. We started running the race, because everyone is running it.

What life incident changed your perspective? What do you care about? Why do you care about it? What do you want to be? Why?
You will observe – it is always a story, an incident, a certain life experience that inspires and motivates you to be where you are today.

From The Founder
"The world is changing rapidly. The old rules don't apply. Social isolation has numbed an entire generation of students who hardly have the life experience to learn and share, thus have nearly no purpose, and cannot give life a meaning.
We need to get back to basics during a crisis and mentor students on webcon what they cannot learn at home or school.
A Platform like Altus School, where leaders in the industry share their life experience, lessons learned, and their life journey with students is long due".

Our Mission and Vision
Our clear MISSION for the next 10 years is to build a “live” mentorship platform to inspire, uplift, and empower students to take action, find meaning in life through the experience of successful people, and gain experiential knowledge to navigate and adapt during times of change. WE MUST!
Our VISION is to build 1000 student leaders, who go on to make a huge difference in communities and consequently in the lives of others and the whole world. It is our responsibility to help them pivot into Top Schools, be aligned with the industry, be professionally networked, financially savvy, and build entrepreneurial ventures that make the world a better place.

participation and process
STEP 1
ALTUS finds the speaker and the topic. We choose the Date/Time (8 PM EST)
STEP 2
WE promote it in various Facebook groups that have parents, high school students etc.
STEP 3
Parents, Students and Teachers check the posts and forward it to students or calendar it with the Zoom link and ID information
STEP 4
Students join the call, listen, interact, debate, discuss…have fun! We repeat the process!

Please check the FAQ sections to understand us a little better. We keep things simple. This is a human impact model by a group of people who believe they can make a BIG difference. We don’t know what to expect as no one has built a platform to help students like this, and if this model works. We will at least give it a shot if Parents and Students can cooperate. We are motivated by helping individuals than trying to change the world! The story below is our guideline.
Does the word "Altus" have a meaning?
Yes! It absolutely does. Altus in Latin means “to rise higher” to “elevate oneself”. The word altitude also derives from the word “Altus.” We stand for rising higher during COVID. That’s our motto and vision.
Cost of Participation
There is NO cost to participants. It is a choice for parents and students. We personally believe that in the end, only a handful will be interested because it will take discipline and leadership to stick around.
Standards & Ethics
We maintain absolutely high standards and ethics on these engagement calls. Bad behavior, disturbing people, and making bad remarks/opinions are NOT tolerated.
Can Parents & Teachers attend?
Please do! Yes, parents and teachers are welcome and we appreciate their participation. As long people do not violate standards and ethics, we are good. Remember Standards and Ethics cover everyone.
Politics, Race, Gender discussions
We keep these elements out of this platform. Period! We focus on human elements and leadership only. Everyone is equal, every opinion is equal but sensitive topics like those are NOT to be discussed on this platform. Thanks for understanding!
What is Project Starfish?
Project Starfish ( www.pstarfish.org ) is a unique 501C(3) Non Profit that solves unemployment challenges for the blind and those with disabilities. We have expanded the charter to create an education platform to spread skills, future work, and help people during COVID times, so we create impact. Altus School is a part of Project Starfish focusing on education.
